Every year we import over a hundred different wines, which we first taste at the winery and then again after we make our selections when they arrive at the warehouse. And year in year out there are some surprises from wines that have changed for the better while others show less favorable then they did at the winery. As an importer one gets quite familiar with these phases a hand-made wine will go through and you learn to drink those that show well and to show patience towards those that need some time to come together. Over the year I constantly taste our current wines and older vintages and I quite naturally develop a set of favorites. Those favorites are not just wines that arrived in excellent condition, they are also showing very well or perfectly at the time. Winemonger’s case of staff favorites is a flight that contains our favorite wines at a given time.
